5 out of 5 eggsExcellent alternative to monitors

Pros: Sound quality
Light weight
Good fit
Price (online/sale)
Cord length

Cons: Not free
VERY flat response

Other Thoughts: I'm using these for mixing (still use my actual studio monitors, just less) and they're a very flat response headphone. Too flat for casual listening, which is why I held on to my old headphones that color music a bit too much for mixing but sound better listening to rock music (more present bass).

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful

Pros: Incredible sound. Everyone I've shown them to has been blown away.

Cons: You MUST have an amp for these. I was able to use them with the volume@100% on my phone, but it wasn't desirable.

I knew this going in, so not really a con, just a drawback. (I do have an amp)

If you don't have an amp you might want to check out HD598 or Audio-Technica ath-m50x

Other Thoughts: I was never an audiophile, I just knew if I didn't get these on sale while seeking a quality upgrade, I would always wonder.

Now I won't go back.

I ordered from the Newegg marketplace and had no issues whatsoever.

5 out of 5 eggsWay better than I thought

Pros: I am an audiophile that has transitioned into headphones and have several very nice sets of cans. Dt880, ATH-AD900's & AKG612's. I went back and forth on this headphone for months and then pulled the trigger and am very pleased I did. They are detailed, refined and smooth with excellent bass. Exquisite! If you are on the fence go for it they are as good as you've heard.

Cons: I have them playing from an external DAC and dedicated headphone amp and have no idea how they would sound without associated equipment.

Other Thoughts: I have a large head and the clamp is there...not too bad but I feel my glasses.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Full range headphone

Pros: First of all, i will mention I do not consider my self an expert in audiophile equipment (Im a PC guy). However, I can say with great certainty these headphones have the sharpest highs, most spot on mids, and warm lows. the only person who will not enjoy these headphones is a basshead. the bass is present and warm but not to the level of lets say, skullcandy skullcrushers. This is obviously no an issue for me but it is something to be noted. I have experienced other headphones in the price range and have found nothing that comes even close. For a first time audiophile who is ready to spend a buck or two to the experienced and tuned audiophile, this is a fantastic headphone.

Cons: I would noty consider the lows to be "BaseHead" worthy

5 out of 5 eggsBrilliant

Pros: Amazing soundstage with the right setup. Definitely get some sort of WASAPI if you're using Vista or newer, or ASIO if XP. Foobar2000 recommended.

Cons: Headphones. Won't sound as good as similar level loudspeakers, but 5x cheaper.

Other Thoughts: No regrets with these. Best ~$400 I've ever spent.

5 out of 5 eggsReference Level Performance

Pros: Excellent imaging, soundstage, detail, and musicality. They just sound stellar.
They are also very comfortable for long listening sessions even while wearing glasses.
Good enough that even Joe Average can immediately tell how different they sound from the cheap stuff.
Replaceable cord which I've done once and was thankful that I could do easily.

Cons: A bit bulky. You might have to put up with comments of "Mickey Mouse". But then they don't know what they're missing.
Long cord gets in the way once in awhile. Thankfully the cord will usually just pull out and you pop it back in and all is well.

Other Thoughts: I've had a pair for 10 years! Replaced the cord once (my fault), rotated the pads, but that's it. They've worked flawlessly. Oh, it will show significant improvement with a quality headphone amplifier because the source will now be *almost* as good as these units. Would only trade if they made these wireless.

4 out of 5 eggsWow

Pros: Good sound (I can only imagine what it sounds like with a dedicated amp), doesn't hurt to wear for long periods of time

Cons: Cable can get in the way sometimes, people with big heads or spiked hair (like me) might want to look at something else as mine broke because I stretched them out too far

Other Thoughts: Good sound and investment, make sure you don't have a big head :P

5 out of 5 eggsNice Cans

Pros: I upgraded from a pair of HD515 headpones. I expected a difference in sound quality between the two and wasn't surprised. The HD600 present a much more realistic soundstage (i.e. you can pick out where the sounds are coming from on the stage and can hear the rustle of the instruments/musicians when listening) and have a very clear mid-range compared to the HD515s. I never was much of a classical music fan but these cans are so good at resolving sound that I find myself addicted to Wagner, Mozart, and many others. Try listening to some good classical music on these and you'll see what I mean.

Cons: Expensive, not the best thing to buy if you want to make your wife happy. *You need a dedicated headphone amp or receiver with a good headphone section that can drive the 300 Ohm impedence (most headphones are below 100 and a lot are around 32 Ohm), don't even try to run these directly off of your sound card or portable'll be extremely disappointed.

Other Thoughts: I love these headphones but realize what you're getting into, you will need to spend money on a quality amp to get good sound out of these.
