Prayer Shawl Ministry |

|
About the Ministry |
In the fall of 2003, Phyllis Schaefel was diagnosed with cancer.
A friend gave her a prayer shawl. Her care giving sister
witnessed the shawls comforting power and vowed to begin a shawl
ministry at UMCWFB. In 2005 a few interested women gathered and gave
birth to the Prayer Shawl Ministry. |
|
|
How they are Made |
Care and love of knitting, crocheting or sewing have been combined
into this prayerful ministry that reaches out to those in need of
solace and comfort. Many prayers are stitched into every
shawl. Each one is begun with prayers for the recipient and
continued throughout it's creation. When completed each shawl
is blessed during a church service before being sent along it's way. |
|
|
Some Uses for the Shawls |
Shawls are intended for
those undergoing medical procedures, during an illness and recovery,
as a comfort after loss, during bereavement or as a tangible symbol
of God's everlasting love.
