Africa Initiative Directory Launched

Africa Initiative Directory

The first version of the WFMH Africa Initiative Directory is now available online. The directory brings together information on over 1,000 organisations in Africa that provide or facilitate psychosocial support to people living with HIV/AIDS, their families and caregivers. The purpose of the directory is to help increase access to services and to strengthen networking and collaboration among organisations working in this area.

If you would like to add your organisation to the directory, please send the name and contact details of your organisation to directory@wfmhafricainitiative.org, along with a description of the psychosocial support services that you provide.

HIV/AIDS & Depression in Africa publication available on CD or online

WFMH Experts Forum

High levels of depression among people living with HIV/AIDS and those who care for them is the subject of a new publication that was launched by the WFMH Africa Initiative on World AIDS Day, December 1st. The publication has since been translated in to French, and is available in both languages via this website or on CD. The CD version is available at no charge and can be requested by contacting us.

The publication brings together African and international research to support a strong Call to Action for governments throughout African countries to give greater attention to the mental health needs of people living with HIV/AIDS, their families and caregivers. The WFMH Africa Initiative - bringing mental health & HIV/AIDS stakeholders together

WFMH Experts Forum

One of the objectives of the WFMH Africa Initiative is to bring stakeholders together and encourage collaboration.

In 2008 during the initial planning phase of the Africa Initiative, WFMH bought together key stakeholders and leaders from the mental health & HIV/AIDS fields in Africa and beyond. These leaders met in Cape Town for a 3 day expert forum on the mental health consequences of HIV/AIDS. To read more about this historic forum, click here.
